NAVY PUBLIC PRIVATE VENTURE (PPV)
The Navy PPV project is one of the largest military privatization projects in the Nation. Phase 1 of the scheduled five phases encompasses five Navy housing sites on Oahu: Radford Terrace, Halsey Terrace, Moana Loa Terrace, Hokulani and McGrew Point. A total of 906 new homes will be constructed in Phase1, along with five new community centers. A total of 6,000+ homes will be built during all five phases and will encompass military bases across the Pacific Ocean.
Typical construction includes demolishing existing outdated housing structures and replacing them with new, market rate product, while maintaining the existing mature tree canopy. CM&D was brought in by the equity partners for design management and construction management oversight.
Housing units are duplex and single-family homes and range in size from approximately 1,800 sq. ft to 2,500 sq. ft. Construction is based on prefabricated steel panels and wood trusses. Construction for the first phase is scheduled to begin June 2004 and last for 48 months.
