RITZ CARLTON HALF MOON BAY
The 5-star Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay golf and spa resort, located along California's scenic northern Pacific Coast between the Links and Ocean championship golf courses, reflects the grand seaside lodges of the 19th Century. This full service resort hotel has a total of 261 guest rooms, 51 oceanfront bungalows, a conference center, spa, and 200,000 sq. ft. parking garage. The main building has 209 guest rooms of which there are 11 executive suites, 1 Ritz Carlton Suite, and 10 parlor suites. In addition, there are a total of 52 guest rooms in three adjacent guesthouses.
CM&D was brought into the managing developer partner's team by the majority equity partner during the construction phase to provide oversight of the managing partner's development team. CM&D was directly involved in scope redefinition, cost containment, scheduling, and quality assurance/quality control. Additional scope included the redevelopment of The Colony Club, an existing community building and health/recreation facility that also functions as a greeting area for the bungalows portion of the resort. Scheduling considerations for this project were twofold. The Colony Club underwent renovation while the hotel was under construction, and the main service access to the hotel that served the adjoining Links at Ocean Colony Golf Club, which remained operational during the entire project, had to be continuously maintained operational. The project successfully opened in March 2001.
